I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that comment from people I’ve asked to share my study posts in the last few months. The reality is they do know people who are childfree by choice, they just don’t realize it. Statistically speaking, it’s impossible for everyone not to know someone who is childfree
But, more importantly, given that I’m recruiting via social media, the failure here is that most people are thinking at the micro level, not the macro level. They’re trying to think of individual people to share the post with — what ONE person they should send the link to who might like to fill out my survey. And that’s not how snowball sampling works best.
I ask everyone to simply share my post on their socials, because they never know who will see it who might like to complete the survey or share it with someone else who would. That’s the macro approach.
So do me a solid and share the study link via your socials. Let the algorithm do it’s job and take it to the people who are supposed to see it!
