about

Hi! I’m Lisa Currie, a PhD Candidate in Human Sexuality Studies at Widener University in Chester, PA. I also hold a master’s in college student development from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and a master’s in Human Sexuality Education, also from Widener. I spent over 25 years working in college student affairs, primarily as a health and sexuality educator, then shifted into HIV clinical workforce development at the University of Wisconsin – Madison several years ago.

I’m a person who is childfree by choice myself which is what got me interested in studying our community. For my dissertation research study, I’m exploring contraceptive decision-making among childfree by choice people and also looking at the role that identity centrality, political anxiety, and state reproductive policy climate play in impacting those decisions.

I anticipate data collection will continue through summer 2026 with data analysis in fall 2026. I will defend my dissertation and graduate in spring 2027, but you can anticipate seeing initial results and observations starting to be released on this site and my socials as I review and analyze my data throughout 2026.

I welcome questions. Don’t hesitate to ask!
